Ovodonation

What is Ovodonation?

Ovodonation is an assisted reproduction procedure in which eggs are extracted from a woman and fertilized in a laboratory with sperm from a man or a donor. The resulting embryos are then transferred to the woman’s uterus with the aim of achieving a pregnancy.

When to resort to Ovodonation?

It is recommended to resort to Ovodonation in case of ovulation problems, such as polycystic ovary syndrome or menopause, or in case of genetic problems.

Ovodonation process step by step

  1. Hormone suppression: Medications are given to suppress natural ovulation and stimulate controlled ovulation.
  2. Egg Collection: Eggs are retrieved through a surgical procedure.
  3. Fertilization: The retrieved eggs are fertilized in a laboratory with sperm from a man or from a donor using techniques such as ICSI or conventional IVF.
  4. Incubation and selection of embryos: the embryos are incubated in the laboratory for several days to allow their development. Once they have reached a suitable state of development, the best ones are selected to be transferred to the uterus.
  5. Embryo transfer: Selected embryos are transferred into the woman’s uterus using a non-invasive procedure.
  6. Pregnancy monitoring: Tests are done to determine if a viable pregnancy has been achieved.
